Accenture has acquired McCoy, a startup specializing in video-based candidate assessments, for an undisclosed amount. The deal brings McCoy’s technology into Accenture’s broader talent and human resources consulting portfolio, expanding the firm’s ability to address challenges in high-volume recruitment.
McCoy’s platform addresses a growing problem in hiring: the flood of AI-generated applications and keyword-stuffed resumes that make it difficult for recruiters to identify genuine candidates. The company’s tool adds a simple step to the hiring process, asking candidates to respond to a job-relevant challenge in a short video, typically one to five minutes. Features such as unlimited retakes, a teleprompter, and AI-assisted brainstorming help candidates prepare, while recruiters gain a quick, shareable format for evaluating communication skills and genuine interest before committing to phone screens. The approach, which the World Economic Forum has called Trace Hiring, is designed to work without requiring an ATS integration and is free to trial.
For Accenture, the acquisition strengthens its offerings in talent acquisition and workforce transformation. As clients increasingly struggle with the volume and quality of applicants for entry-level and operational roles, McCoy’s technology provides a practical screening layer that complements existing recruitment tools. Accenture can integrate this capability into its consulting engagements, helping clients reduce wasted time on low-interest candidates and improve the quality of hires for roles where personal interaction matters.
The transaction is expected to close in the coming months, with McCoy’s team joining Accenture’s talent and organization practice. The combined entity will likely focus on scaling the platform across Accenture’s global client base, particularly in sectors with heavy hiring volumes such as retail, logistics, and customer service. While financial terms remain private, the move signals Accenture’s continued investment in AI-driven human capital solutions, positioning the firm to offer a more complete answer to the modern hiring dilemma.
