SubSea Craft Limited

SubSea Craft Limited has acquired LORILLION for an undisclosed amount. The deal brings the advanced engineering and R&D centre under the ownership of the UK-based maritime technology company, which is known for its work on high-performance surface and submersible craft.

LORILLION operates as a specialist development hub focused on sustainable electrification and clean energy systems. Its in-house capabilities span control systems, power electronics, energy storage, and electric powertrain integration. The company delivers turnkey solutions from initial concept through prototype design, validation, and full production, serving sectors such as automotive, marine, aerospace, energy storage, and off-highway vehicles.

For SubSea Craft, the acquisition adds a dedicated engineering resource with deep expertise in electrification. The company’s existing platforms, including its manned submersible and surface vessel programmes, stand to benefit from LORILLION’s ability to design and integrate bespoke electric propulsion and energy management systems. Rather than relying on external suppliers for critical components, SubSea Craft will now have in-house control over the development of these technologies.

The strategic rationale centres on vertical integration. By owning LORILLION’s R&D capacity, SubSea Craft can accelerate the development of cleaner, more efficient power systems tailored to its specific vessel architectures. LORILLION’s experience across multiple transport sectors also offers potential cross-pollination of ideas, particularly in areas like thermal management and high-density energy storage, which are relevant to both marine and aerospace applications.

The combined entity will continue to operate LORILLION’s existing client work while prioritising integration with SubSea Craft’s product roadmap. The acquisition is expected to shorten development cycles for new electric and hybrid marine systems, with initial projects already being scoped. Financial terms were not disclosed, and no changes to LORILLION’s current leadership or operational structure have been announced.
