CONGALSA, S.L.

CONGALSA, S.L. has acquired Lenger Seafoods Group for an undisclosed amount, marking a significant corporate acquisition in the global seafood industry. Lenger Seafoods, a dynamic worldwide enterprise, specializes in the fishing, cultivation, purchasing, processing, storage, and distribution of a wide assortment of shellfish and crustaceans. Founded in Harlingen in 1925, the Lenger family has been active in the shellfish business for over 93 years, evolving from fishing herring and anchovy to farming mussels and harvesting cockles.

Today, Lenger Seafoods is known for its traditional and sustainably fished products, including cockles, mussels, razor clams, scallops, whelks, oysters, and langoustines. With headquarters in Yerseke, the shellfish centre of northern Europe, and a strong production base in Harlingen, Lenger operates in the Netherlands' two most important shellfish grounds. The company, which employs 300 people and holds BRC and IFS higher-level certifications, exports frozen, chilled, fresh, and preserved products globally to retail, foodservice, and industrial markets under brands such as LENGERs, Du Nord, and La Bigorne.

This acquisition is strategic for CONGALSA, S.L., as it significantly expands its product portfolio and market reach. By integrating Lenger Seafoods, CONGALSA gains extensive expertise in the shellfish and crustacean sector, along with established global distribution channels and a strong presence in key European sourcing regions. The addition of Lenger’s sustainable practices, including MSC-certified products, and its robust quality assurance systems further enhances CONGALSA’s operational capabilities and market credibility.

The combination of CONGALSA, S.L. and Lenger Seafoods Group is expected to create a more diversified and stronger entity in the international seafood market. The merged operations will leverage Lenger’s deep heritage and specialized knowledge to offer a broader, high-quality product range, strengthening the combined company’s competitive position and ability to serve a wider customer base globally.
