Globus Medical has acquired Higgs Boson Health for an undisclosed amount. The deal brings the privately held digital health company under the ownership of the musculoskeletal implant manufacturer, a transaction that expands Globus Medical’s capabilities beyond hardware into software-driven patient support.
Higgs Boson Health develops digital companions and AI agents tailored for the medtech, pharma, and biotech sectors. Its platform helps companies support patients throughout the therapy journey, automate commercial workflows, and provide field teams with consistent, scalable guidance. Globus Medical, known for its spinal and orthopedic implants, has been building a broader portfolio that includes enabling technologies and data services. The acquisition adds a direct-to-patient software layer to that portfolio, allowing the company to engage with individuals before and after surgical procedures.
The strategic rationale centers on the convergence of devices and digital care. Globus Medical’s existing distribution network and clinical relationships can now be paired with Higgs Boson Health’s AI-driven tools, potentially improving patient education, adherence, and post-operative follow-up. For Higgs Boson Health, the acquisition provides access to a larger commercial infrastructure and a established customer base in the surgical space, which could accelerate deployment of its agents across new therapy areas.
The transaction is expected to close following customary conditions. Financial terms were not disclosed, and no changes to Higgs Boson Health’s current operations were announced. The combined entity will operate with Globus Medical’s existing leadership structure, with Higgs Boson Health’s team integrated into the company’s digital health division. The acquisition positions Globus Medical to offer a more complete care continuum, from implant selection to long-term patient management, as reimbursement models increasingly favor outcomes-based care.
