Multiplier has acquired Greenhawk Equestrian Sport for $35.0 million, a cash-and-stock transaction that transfers ownership of the Canadian retailer and its affiliated pet store chain. The deal, which closed earlier this week, places Greenhawk’s operations under Multiplier’s corporate umbrella, with the acquired company’s management team remaining in place to oversee day-to-day activities.

Greenhawk Equestrian Sport, established in 1985, operates more than 50 equestrian retail locations across Canada, alongside 19 Bark & Fitz pet stores that are either embedded within select Greenhawk outlets or run as standalone shops. The company also maintains an international e-commerce platform for equestrian gear. Its workforce is largely composed of horse owners and enthusiasts, and its product lines span all riding disciplines, from saddlery to apparel. Bark & Fitz, meanwhile, focuses on holistic pet care, emphasizing grooming services and health-oriented product assortments.

For Multiplier, the acquisition broadens its portfolio into the niche but established equestrian retail sector, a market with loyal customer bases and recurring demand for specialized equipment. The purchase also adds a physical retail footprint that Multiplier did not previously possess, complementing any existing distribution or digital capabilities. The inclusion of Bark & Fitz provides a secondary revenue stream tied to the growing pet care market, which has shown resilience in consumer spending.

The strategic rationale centers on operational overlap. Both Greenhawk and Multiplier serve enthusiast communities with specialized products, and Multiplier intends to apply its supply chain and inventory management systems to Greenhawk’s stores and online channel. Cross-selling opportunities may emerge between equestrian customers and pet owners, particularly where Bark & Fitz locations share space with Greenhawk outlets. No immediate store closures or rebranding plans have been announced, and franchise agreements will be honored under the new ownership.

The combined entity will now operate across two retail verticals with a national Canadian presence and an international e-commerce reach. Multiplier’s focus will be on integrating back-office functions while preserving the brand identities that Greenhawk and Bark & Fitz have built over nearly four decades. The transaction is expected to close fully by the end of the quarter, with financial integration beginning shortly thereafter.
