Firefly Capital Management has acquired Gravity, a provider of critical power generation and equipment rental infrastructure solutions, for an undisclosed amount. The transaction transfers full ownership of Gravity to Firefly, a private investment firm focused on infrastructure and energy-related businesses.
Gravity operates a fleet of more than 2,000 natural gas and diesel power generation units, alongside fluid management and other rental equipment. The company serves a range of end markets across the United States, delivering power and rental solutions for microgrids, onsite operations, and direct customer needs. Firefly’s acquisition brings Gravity under its portfolio as a wholly owned subsidiary, with existing management expected to remain in place to oversee daily operations.
The purchase is driven by Firefly’s interest in expanding its exposure to the distributed power and rental equipment sector. Gravity’s established fleet and operational footprint offer a platform for growth in a market where demand for reliable, temporary and backup power continues to rise. For Firefly, the deal adds a tangible asset base and recurring revenue stream from rental contracts, complementing its broader infrastructure holdings.
For Gravity, the acquisition provides access to Firefly’s capital resources and long-term investment horizon. This backing could support fleet expansion, upgrades to newer generation equipment, and entry into additional geographic or industrial segments. The company’s focus on safety and operational efficiency is expected to remain central under new ownership.
The combined entity will operate with Gravity’s brand and service model intact, while Firefly manages strategic oversight and capital allocation. No changes to customer agreements or rental terms have been announced. The deal is closed, and the integration process is underway, with near-term priorities centered on maintaining service continuity and evaluating organic growth opportunities.
