SOFTGAMES has acquired Funday Games for an undisclosed amount. The deal brings the Danish developer, founded in Aarhus in 2011 and employing more than 50 people, under the ownership of the Berlin-based games company. Funday Games is best known for developing Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, a spin-off that has surpassed 3 million players since its launch in 2024.
Funday Games specializes in creating spin-off titles based on evergreen indie intellectual properties, while also developing and publishing its own original games such as The Margot Collapse and Wild Indigo Ranch. SOFTGAMES, which focuses on casual and mobile gaming, is adding a studio with a proven track record in adapting established franchises for new platforms and audiences.
The acquisition is intended to strengthen SOFTGAMES’ portfolio by bringing in Funday’s expertise in indie IP adaptations and original game development. For Funday, joining SOFTGAMES provides access to broader distribution channels and operational resources, which could accelerate the studio’s ability to scale its projects. The transaction also gives SOFTGAMES a foothold in the PC and console market, where Funday has built its reputation.
The purchase is a full acquisition, meaning Funday Games will operate as part of the SOFTGAMES group rather than as an independent entity. No financial terms were disclosed, and no changes to Funday’s current leadership or staff were announced as part of the deal.
The combined entity is expected to leverage Funday’s development capabilities alongside SOFTGAMES’ publishing reach, with the immediate focus on supporting Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor’s ongoing growth and advancing Funday’s pipeline of original titles.
