Recur Software has acquired FLAGS Software for an undisclosed amount. The deal brings the specialist quality management system provider under the ownership of the broader software group, which will now integrate FLAGS’ manufacturing-focused platform into its existing portfolio.

FLAGS Software supplies quality management systems designed for manufacturers, enabling the electronic recording of inspection results and the connection of business systems from point of sale to final buy-off. Its platform provides real-time visibility of plant performance and is used by manufacturers including Jaguar Land Rover, Bentley, and Aston Martin. The company, which developed one of the UK’s first commercial pen-based touchscreen applications in the early 1990s, has since expanded into internet of things (IoT) capabilities, allowing production systems to communicate and automate product routing based on status data.

Recur Software, the acquiring party, has not disclosed the financial terms of the transaction. The acquisition is intended to broaden Recur’s reach into the manufacturing sector, where FLAGS holds a niche position with established clients in high-precision industries. For Recur, the purchase adds a mature product line with deep domain expertise rather than requiring an in-house build from scratch.

For FLAGS, joining Recur provides access to a larger organisational infrastructure and a wider distribution network, which could accelerate the adoption of its IoT-enabled quality tools beyond its current customer base. The combined entity is expected to maintain FLAGS’ existing client relationships while exploring ways to link its quality data with other operational software offerings under Recur’s umbrella.

The transaction is now complete, and the focus shifts to integration planning. Both companies have indicated that existing FLAGS contracts and support commitments will continue unchanged, with product development roadmaps to be reviewed in the coming months.
