Viatel Technology Group has acquired EDNX, a specialist IT network consultancy, for an undisclosed amount. The deal brings EDNX into the Viatel fold as a wholly owned operation, with its team and service portfolio transferring to the new parent company.
EDNX focuses on troubleshooting, designing, and implementing software-defined network solutions, including SD-Access and SD-WAN. The firm positions itself as an extension of client technical teams, handling complex network challenges that standard providers often decline. Its work spans private sector IT leaders and public sector operators requiring secure, future-ready connectivity. Viatel Technology Group, the acquiring party, operates as a managed network and communications provider, delivering connectivity, cloud, and security services to businesses across the UK and Ireland.
The acquisition is driven by a need to deepen Viatel’s expertise in software-defined networking, an area where enterprise demand is rising as organisations modernise legacy infrastructure. EDNX’s engineering-led approach and track record of first-time delivery are expected to complement Viatel’s existing managed service offerings. By folding EDNX’s consultancy capabilities into its structure, Viatel gains a stronger position in designing and deploying SD-WAN and SD-Access architectures for mid-sized and large clients, a segment where bespoke configuration is increasingly critical.
For EDNX, the transaction provides access to Viatel’s broader network infrastructure, operational support, and customer base, allowing its engineers to scale projects without the constraints of a standalone consultancy. The combined entity will offer a fuller lifecycle: from initial network assessment and design through to implementation and ongoing management. No changes to EDNX’s delivery model or client engagements have been announced, and the brand will continue to operate under its existing name for the time being.
The acquisition marks a consolidation point in the UK networking sector, where specialised design skills are becoming a differentiator for larger service providers. With EDNX integrated, Viatel is positioned to pursue larger enterprise contracts that require both deep technical design and nationwide managed service capability. The immediate focus will be on aligning engineering processes and introducing EDNX’s consultancy services to Viatel’s existing client base, with further integration details expected in the coming months.
