HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering Co., Ltd. (HD KSOE) has acquired Doosan VINA for an undisclosed amount. This corporate acquisition sees HD KSOE integrate a major heavy industrial complex located in Vietnam's Dung Quat Economic Zone. Doosan VINA specializes in the manufacture of heavy industrial equipment, including boilers for power plants, cranes for container handling at ports, and desalination plants.
Established in 2006, Doosan VINA has been a significant producer of complex industrial components. The company has delivered 197 projects, with its "Made in Vietnam" products operating in 28 countries worldwide. Its contributions include adding 11,180 MW of electricity to the global grid through its boilers and power equipment, providing 776 million liters of desalinated seawater daily, and deploying 68 giant cargo cranes actively supporting international trade.
This strategic acquisition is expected to bolster HD KSOE's capabilities within the heavy industrial and engineering sectors. Doosan VINA's robust manufacturing infrastructure and extensive experience in specialized equipment align with the operational needs of a company focused on shipbuilding and offshore engineering. The integration is anticipated to create synergies by potentially expanding HD KSOE's production capacity, diversifying its heavy industrial product portfolio, and strengthening its supply chain in Asia. Access to Doosan VINA’s established global customer base for its industrial products also presents an opportunity for market expansion.
The acquisition clearly signifies HD KSOE's intent to deepen its presence and operational footprint in the heavy machinery and industrial plant market. The combined entity is poised to leverage Doosan VINA's specialized production expertise and global reach, enhancing its competitive position and offering a more comprehensive suite of heavy industrial solutions across various sectors, from power generation to maritime infrastructure.
