Astra Holding Group has acquired DNH Construction Limited for an undisclosed amount. The deal transfers ownership of the Plymouth-based construction firm, which was founded in 1987 by David Holmes, to the holding group. DNH will continue to operate under its existing name, with Simon Holmes remaining as Managing Director.
DNH Construction provides a full range of building services across the South West of England, covering Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Dorset. Its portfolio includes work on Grade 1 listed buildings, banks, schools, elderly persons’ homes, and insurance repairs for both domestic and commercial properties. Projects range from small maintenance tasks to large contracts valued at up to £3 million. The company distinguishes itself by working efficiently in occupied premises, minimising disruption for clients, and all operatives are CRB checked and identifiable through company uniform and security ID cards.
For Astra Holding Group, the acquisition adds a well-established regional contractor with a four-decade track record and a strong reputation for quality. The purchase aligns with Astra’s objective of expanding its presence in the South West construction market, a region where DNH already holds a recognised position. By bringing DNH under its umbrella, Astra gains immediate access to an experienced team, an existing client base, and a proven operational model that includes satellite-tracked vehicles for rapid response.
The strategic rationale centres on combining Astra’s broader resources and financial backing with DNH’s specialist expertise in heritage buildings and insurance repair work. This allows the combined entity to pursue larger and more complex projects while maintaining the personalised service that has defined DNH’s growth. Simon Holmes’ continued leadership ensures continuity for staff and clients during the transition.
The acquisition positions the combined business to strengthen its foothold in the South West, with potential to extend its service reach beyond current boundaries. Under Astra’s ownership, DNH is expected to build on its existing pipeline and explore new opportunities in both the public and private sectors, leveraging the group’s scale without losing the local focus that has underpinned its success.
