DMC Nordic has agreed to acquire DIS Congress Service, with the takeover set to take effect from October 1st, according to an announcement by DMC Nordic. The financial amount of the transaction was not disclosed in the sources.
DIS Congress Service was founded in Copenhagen in 1951 as the first Professional Congress Organizer (PCO) in the world, according to the announcement. The company handles all aspects of a congress, including budget, venue and hotels, registration, transport and gala dinners, so that the association can concentrate on the academic programme and selecting the right speakers.
Although DIS is a Danish company with a focus on the Nordic countries, it operates worldwide, the announcement said, citing work this year in Porto, Brussels and Zanzibar.
DMC Nordic said it expects strong synergies with the region where it already has an organisation, and a significant increase in congresses in the Nordic cities and the three Baltic capitals, in cooperation with the respective convention bureaus and national tourist boards.
According to the announcement, DMC Nordic has so far worked intensely with cruise shore management and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, Events), and although it has organised meetings for up to 2,500 people, it has been limited to the corporate world. DMC Nordic said the new venture gives it a position as a fully fledged service company, and that its employees, under the leadership of CEO/President Thomas Høy, will bring the company into a new dimension as a service provider in the Nordics and beyond.
The announcement thanked Helle Klestrup and Peder Andersen for their confidence in DMC Nordic.
