Destination Brisbane Consortium has acquired Destination Brisbane Consortium for an undisclosed amount. This corporate acquisition sees the entity responsible for the Queen’s Wharf Brisbane development consolidate its operational and strategic framework.
Destination Brisbane Consortium is a privately-owned and operated joint venture, bringing together a powerhouse of Australian and global experience. Its partners include lead partner The Star Entertainment Group (50% owner), Chow Tai Fook Enterprises (25% owner), and Far East Consortium (25% owner). The consortium's collective expertise spans property and hotel development, consumer and retail markets, entertainment, and hospitality. In 2015, the consortium was successfully chosen by the Queensland Government to transform the historic yet underutilised Queen’s Wharf Brisbane site, following a competitive tender process that originated from a state government announcement in 2012 to redevelop the precinct.
This corporate acquisition is understood to be a strategic move designed to reinforce the consortium's unified vision and operational efficiency for the Queen’s Wharf Brisbane project. By formally acquiring itself, Destination Brisbane Consortium aims to further streamline decision-making processes and more deeply integrate the diverse expertise and resources of its constituent partners – The Star Entertainment Group, Chow Tai Fook Enterprises, and Far East Consortium – under a singular, consolidated structure. The expected synergies are therefore centered on enhancing the existing collaborative framework, ensuring a cohesive approach to the ongoing development, and optimizing the future operation of the significant urban precinct.
The combined entity is now poised to continue its work on the Queen’s Wharf Brisbane transformation with an even more integrated operational model. This strategic consolidation underscores a renewed commitment to the long-term success and unified management of the landmark urban redevelopment, aiming to deliver on its ambitious vision for the region.
