Accenture has acquired Comware Technical Services, a provider of legacy system emulation and automatic testing equipment support, for an undisclosed amount. The deal brings the Irvine, California-based company, which has operated for over 25 years, into Accenture’s broader technology services portfolio.
Comware specializes in virtualization solutions for legacy platforms including VAX, HP1000, PDP-11, and ALPHA systems. It was the first company to install an ALPHA emulator in North America more than 15 years ago and is recognized as a leading legacy system emulator globally. The company also provides aftermarket service, support, and replacement parts for in-circuit test systems from manufacturers such as GenRad, Teradyne, and Agilent, serving ATE users worldwide. Comware maintains offices across Asia and Europe in addition to its headquarters in California.
For Accenture, the acquisition addresses a persistent challenge for many industrial and government clients that still rely on legacy infrastructure. These systems often remain critical to daily operations but face growing risks from aging hardware and a shrinking pool of specialized expertise. By integrating Comware’s technical capabilities, Accenture can offer clients a path to extend the life of these systems or migrate them to modern platforms without disrupting core processes.
The transaction also expands Accenture’s service depth in niche engineering domains. Comware’s authorized partnerships with vendors such as Vere Technologies and Strobe Data, along with its technical resources like Emulator-World.com and ATEworld.com, provide a foundation for supporting clients with highly specific hardware and software needs. This complements Accenture’s existing industrial and technology consulting practices.
The combined entity is expected to deliver more comprehensive support for clients navigating legacy system transitions. Comware’s staff and technical assets will be integrated into Accenture’s operations, allowing the larger firm to address both immediate maintenance requirements and longer-term modernization projects. The acquisition strengthens Accenture’s ability to serve sectors where continuity and reliability are paramount, such as manufacturing, defense, and utilities.
