Skye Asset Management has acquired CoastTec, a specialist in certified maintenance and reconditioned uninterruptible power supplies, for an undisclosed amount. The transaction brings the service provider under the ownership of the asset management firm, which will now oversee its operations and growth strategy.
CoastTec provides maintenance, management, and monitoring services for APC UPS fleets, with a focus on single-phase systems. It operates as the only APC-certified service center for this equipment category and is a leading supplier of reconditioned units. The company also administers the Certified Protection Plan in partnership with APC, a program designed to manage large UPS inventories across sectors such as retail, healthcare, education, and government. Its client base includes hospitals, universities, and municipal agencies.
For Skye Asset Management, the acquisition adds a technical services business with recurring revenue potential and a niche position in power reliability infrastructure. The firm gains access to CoastTec’s established relationships with APC and its certified service capabilities, which are not widely replicated in the market. The deal aligns with Skye’s focus on acquiring companies with specialized operational expertise.
The purchase also supports CoastTec’s existing model of extending the life of UPS equipment through reconditioning and proper disposal of e-waste. Under new ownership, the company can continue to offer cost savings to clients, with pre-owned units typically priced at about half of retail, while maintaining its service contracts for active fleets. The integration is expected to proceed without disruption to current customer agreements.
The combined entity will now focus on expanding CoastTec’s service reach and deepening its role within the APC ecosystem. With Skye’s resources behind it, the company is positioned to sustain its certified service standards and grow its base of institutional clients.
