KKR has acquired Ci FLAVORS株式会社, a Tokyo-based beauty brand platformer, for an undisclosed amount. The transaction transfers full ownership of the company from its previous shareholders, including L Catterton Asia, to the global investment firm.
Ci FLAVORS operates as a holding company for more than 30 beauty and personal care brands, including &honey, 8 THE THALASSO, unlabel LAB, and AHRES. Its business model grants each group company substantial operational autonomy while the parent provides centralized support in cash management, back-office functions, supplier access, sales channel development, and global strategy. The company reports consistent year-over-year growth and has positioned itself as a consolidator in the Japanese beauty sector.
For KKR, the acquisition adds a high-growth consumer platform in Japan to its portfolio, complementing its existing investments in the Asia-Pacific region. The deal gives KKR control of a business with a proven track record of brand incubation and international expansion, areas where the firm can apply its operational resources. Ci FLAVORS will retain its current management structure, with KKR providing capital and strategic guidance to accelerate scaling.
The acquisition follows a period of rapid brand development for Ci FLAVORS, which previously received investment from L Catterton Asia, a fund backed by LVMH and Groupe Arnault. That partnership helped the company expand its global footprint, a trajectory KKR intends to continue. The new ownership is expected to deepen Ci FLAVORS’ access to international retail channels and supply chain efficiencies while preserving the entrepreneurial culture of its individual brands.
With KKR’s backing, Ci FLAVORS is positioned to pursue further brand acquisitions and enter additional overseas markets. The combined entity will focus on maintaining the group’s growth rate while integrating KKR’s operational expertise, with near-term priorities centered on scaling existing labels and identifying new consumer segments.
