Qualitas Consulting Group has acquired Cero Generation for an undisclosed amount, taking full ownership of the solar and battery storage developer from its previous parent, Macquarie Asset Management. The transaction transfers Cero Generation’s entire project pipeline and operational portfolio to Qualitas, which will now manage the business as a wholly owned subsidiary.
Cero Generation focuses on developing and delivering utility-scale solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects. The company currently operates six projects, with another six under construction, and has stated it is poised for substantial growth in the coming years, with a significant uplift in operational projects. Qualitas Consulting Group, the acquiring entity, brings expertise in energy sector advisory and infrastructure management, though specific details of its internal structure were not disclosed.
The acquisition is strategic for Qualitas because it provides immediate access to a mature development platform with a clear near-term construction pipeline. Rather than building a renewable energy business from scratch, Qualitas gains Cero’s existing operational assets, its development team, and its track record in grid-connected projects. For Cero, the deal ends its stand-alone status under Macquarie Asset Management and places it under a parent with a direct focus on consulting and operational oversight, which could streamline decision-making on project execution.
The combined entity is expected to benefit from Qualitas’s management capabilities applied to Cero’s project delivery. Qualitas can leverage Cero’s technical expertise to expand its service offerings, while Cero may gain more integrated support for financing, permitting, and construction coordination. No changes to Cero’s existing project commitments or workforce were announced as part of the transaction.
With six projects under construction and a stated expectation of significant operational growth, the new ownership structure positions the company to accelerate its build-out phase. The immediate priority will be completing the current construction slate and integrating Qualitas’s management systems without disrupting project timelines.
