Altmin has acquired Companhia Brasileira de Lítio (CBL) for an undisclosed amount, marking a significant consolidation in the global lithium market. CBL, a pioneering Brazilian company, is renowned for its integrated operations spanning underground mining to the production of lithium compounds. This acquisition underscores Altmin's strategic move to enhance its presence in the critical minerals sector.
CBL operates the Mina da Cachoeira, an underground resource where it extracts litiniferous pegmatite and concentrates spodumene, a key lithium-containing mineral. Uniquely, CBL is one of the few companies globally with integrated lithium ore-concentrate-compound technology. Following concentration via Dense Media Separation, spodumene is processed at its chemical plant to produce high-purity lithium carbonate and lithium hydroxide using the acid route. These essential compounds serve a wide array of applications, including ion-lithium batteries, lubricant grease, ceramics, and pharmaceuticals.
The acquisition provides Altmin with immediate access to a fully operational and vertically integrated lithium supply chain.
