ICL Group has acquired Bartek Ingredients, the world’s largest producer of malic and food-grade fumaric acid, for an undisclosed amount. This corporate acquisition sees ICL Group taking full ownership of Bartek, integrating its established specialty ingredients business into ICL’s global operations.
Founded in 1969, Bartek Ingredients has developed a comprehensive portfolio of malic and fumaric acid products, serving major brands globally. Its offerings extend beyond basic raw materials to include innovative solutions such as Pecmate™ Pectin Enhancer, Uphold™ Bread Preservation Technology, and Upscale™ Artisan Bread Technology. These ingredients find diverse applications across food and beverages, animal nutrition, pharmaceuticals, personal care, and industrial sectors, where they improve flavor, enhance performance, reduce costs, and provide antimicrobial properties. Bartek maintains a global distribution network, supplying customers in over 40 countries from its North American base.
The acquisition is a strategic move for ICL Group, aimed at strengthening its presence in the specialty food ingredients market and expanding its innovation capabilities. Bartek’s deep expertise in malic and fumaric acids, coupled with its focus on customized formulations and proprietary technologies, is expected to complement ICL’s existing portfolio. Synergies are anticipated through leveraging Bartek’s established manufacturing processes, global supply chain, and customer relationships, which will allow ICL to enhance its product offerings and deliver a broader range of solutions to a wider customer base.
This integration is set to drive innovation in the combined entity, particularly in developing advanced ingredient solutions for evolving market needs. The unified operation is expected to capitalize on Bartek's specialized knowledge and ICL's resources to scale production, optimize market reach, and accelerate the development of next-generation ingredients, ultimately benefiting customers across its expanded global footprint.
