ePointZero has acquired Azura Power, a pan-African energy platform, for an undisclosed amount. The deal transfers full ownership of Azura Power’s operating assets and development pipeline to ePointZero, which will integrate the platform into its existing energy infrastructure portfolio.
Azura Power specialises in providing flexible and reliable balancing power to national grids across Africa, a service that helps stabilise electricity supply as renewable sources like solar and wind are added to the mix. The company also supports industrial growth by ensuring large-scale consumers have consistent access to electricity. ePointZero, for its part, focuses on energy transition technologies and grid modernisation, with a particular emphasis on digital tools and data-driven optimisation for power systems.
The acquisition is strategic for ePointZero because it adds a physical generation and balancing capability to its software and analytics offerings. Rather than only advising or optimising grids, ePointZero will now own and operate assets that directly address the intermittency challenge of renewables. For Azura Power, joining ePointZero provides access to deeper capital resources and a broader technical toolkit, which could accelerate the rollout of its balancing projects in multiple countries.
The combined entity is expected to offer a more complete solution to African utilities and independent power producers: Azura Power’s operational expertise in thermal and hybrid balancing plants, paired with ePointZero’s real-time monitoring and predictive maintenance systems, should improve plant efficiency and grid reliability. The deal also positions the merged company to take on larger, multi-country contracts that require both hardware and software capabilities.
With the acquisition complete, the focus now shifts to integrating Azura Power’s existing projects into ePointZero’s operational framework and identifying new markets where balancing power can unlock further renewable deployment. The transaction underscores a broader trend of technology firms moving into direct energy asset ownership, and the success of this integration will be measured by how quickly the combined platform can deliver stable power to more African grids.
