ADQ has acquired AD Ports Group in a transaction completed for an undisclosed amount. The move consolidates the Abu Dhabi-based holding company’s control over the ports operator, which was already owned by ADQ prior to the deal. The acquisition formalises ADQ’s full ownership of AD Ports Group, a logistics and trade enabler established by Emiri Decree.

AD Ports Group operates across five integrated clusters: Digital, Economic Cities & Free Zones, Logistics, Maritime & Shipping, and Ports. Its activities connect global maritime routes with international trading partners, supporting trade flows and economic diversification in the region. ADQ, one of the largest holding companies in the region, manages a broad portfolio of enterprises spanning key sectors of Abu Dhabi’s diversified economy, including energy, utilities, and transport.

The acquisition is strategic for ADQ as it brings AD Ports Group’s trade infrastructure and logistics capabilities under a more direct ownership structure. By consolidating the ports operator within its portfolio, ADQ can align maritime and logistics assets with its broader economic development objectives. For AD Ports Group, the transaction provides clearer governance and a streamlined relationship with its parent entity, which may facilitate faster decision-making on capital projects and partnerships.

The combined entity is expected to strengthen Abu Dhabi’s position as a trade hub, leveraging AD Ports Group’s existing clusters and ADQ’s financial resources. The integration could support the development of economic zones and logistics networks that serve both regional and international markets. Operational continuity is anticipated, with AD Ports Group’s existing management and cluster structure remaining in place under the new ownership framework.

The transaction positions the combined organisation to pursue long-term infrastructure projects and trade facilitation initiatives. With ADQ’s backing, AD Ports Group may expand its role in connecting supply chains across the region, though specific plans have not been disclosed. The deal underscores a broader trend of consolidation in Gulf logistics, where state-linked entities are tightening control over critical trade assets.
