A Birmingham, Alabama-based institution dedicated to advancing sports medicine research and education has raised $100K. The American Sports Medicine Institute (ASMI), a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, was founded in 1987 by renowned orthopaedic surgeon Dr. James R. Andrews with a mission to improve the understanding, prevention, and treatment of sports-related injuries.
ASMI is home to a state-of-the-art biomechanics laboratory and is recognized as the nation's largest accredited educator of sports medicine physicians, with graduates practicing across 44 states, Puerto Rico, and ten foreign countries.
